Dr. Franz C. Mayr 1933 – 2022

Franz Mayr died suddenly in his sleep on January 24, 2022 in Magog, at the age of 88. Born in Lienz in Tyrol (Austria) and son of a gardener, he studied botany, geography, climatology and physical sciences for a holistic approach in natural sciences. There he obtained his doctorate in Botany and a position at the Institute of Geography in Innsbruck, where he specialized in Quaternary glaciation.
